Sarah is 15 1/2 now and guess who has her temps! And it’s winter – ugh. I hate driving in the winter, the snow and ice terrifies me and I absolutely do my best to not leave the house in the winter unless it’s really necessary or there’s not much stuff on the ground. But she wants to drive – so I posted a status on facebook about her wanting to drive and it’s winter. I have to say I wasn’t too surprised when Charles said he’d teach her to drive but the surprise I did get was that he’s coming here. Yippee! It’s been awhile since he last came to see us (of course it’s been awhile since I was back in Rapids to see him too).
With friends like Charles that I left behind in the Rapids area, I sometimes get a bit of a homesick feeling and wish that I hadn’t left the area. I don’t have anyone in this area that I can depend on like the few people I had when we lived there. I feel kind of isolated and alone here but I know the move was good in some ways. The kids have a pretty good school and all of them have developed some good friends that’ll most likely stick with them for years to come. The business hit a growth spurt last year and now I have a pretty big client list that’s brought enough income in now so it’s almost completely supporting the household. And life here in this small town just feels more peaceful.
Anyway, since we don’t get too many people to come over and visit that means we tend to slack off on keeping the chores caught up so we’ve been busy getting stuff cleaned up and looking presentable. Charles isn’t exactly company – he’s more like family but still it’s good to have everything cleaned up and looking good around here. Darrell is going to dust the remains from the last snowstorm off the grill and I’m going to marinate some pork chops and cook them on the grill. There’s already some bread rising on top of the stove and we’re going to figure out which of my favorite potatoes to serve with supper LOL. Charles know there’s always sweets and treats around here so Isaac is going to bake some cookie-brownies. I think he’ll really like them! So it’s kind of feeling like we’re getting ready for a party around here.
